Academic Overview

The Preschool and Kindergarten Experience

MCA provides a full-day preschool learning experience that consists of a strong phonics-based instruction that is introduced to the four year old child. The preschool program is structured in a way that emphasizes readiness skills and a hands-on approach to learning. Children learn by doing. By the end of their school year, most four year olds are able to read words and phrases.  Students must have turned 4 by September 1st to be accepted.

The kindergarten program accepts students who are five years of age by September 1st. MCA provides a full day of kindergarten learning experience consisting of a strong phonics-based instruction that is mastered during the year. Although this program is somewhat structured, it still offers flexibility and stimulating hands-on experiences.

The Elementary Program

The elementary program at MCA emphasizes spiritual precepts, character building, and skills/concepts necessary to academic advancement. Yearly national scores on the Stanford Achievement Test demonstrate that our students score anywhere from 1 - 3 years above national norms. Students entering first grade must be able to read.

The Middle School Program

The middle school students have unique needs that make them different from elementary children and high school students. Our program is designed to meet the emotional, social, spiritual and physical needs of the adolescent. Students attend chapel on a weekly basis.

Our middle school program emphasizes strong academics as well as an expanding Fine Arts program. The school day consists of a Bible class, four academic courses (Math, History, Science, and English), physical education, and a choice of electives (Chorus, Art, Drama, Spanish, Hand Bells, Intro to Computers, and Student Government).

Students in our middle school consistently score high on the yearly Stanford Achievement Test given in the spring.

The High School Program

Our high school program offers college prep courses along with unique electives. Two diplomas are offered: College Prep Honors (27 credit hours) or College Prep Diploma (25 credit hours). Over 80% of our student body maintains a 3.0 GPA. Our students participate in the joint enrollment provided by Gainesville College.

The Academy boasts in a strong art department that has produced winners at the local and state levels. Some works have received national recognition. The growing and expanding music program consists of bells, chimes, ensembles, and choirs. An active student counsel provides opportunity for student leadership.
